Finals in Belgium.

G'day

Just back home after a fun weekend at the Longoni Cup in Leuven/Belgium. Had to give training to the national youth selection on Friday first in Deurne. Berry had arranged former 3x Olympic bronze medal winner in boxing Arnold vd Leijden for a motivational clinic and a workout.

The workout was fun and  built up to pretty intense boxing punches drills. On Saturday I woke up and knew I was in trouble. My body was not used to those movements and I've never had that much muscle pain in my arms and shoulders!

Kat gave me a massage but the pain and stiffness stayed the same. We had a ringgame on Saturday night that didn't go well. The main event with 32 players was on Sunday and the pain was still there. Luckily the owner had a special cream that made my muscles really warm. I put that on a couple of times during the day and that helped.

I reached the semi-final vs Ortmann and that was an intense match. Lots of safes so very interesting. I won 8-4. Then the finals vs Rochkovski. Andreas started well and took a 3-6 lead. I pulled back to 6-6 but missed an easy 7 for the lead. That was unforgivable. Lost a safety battle in the next so 6-8 in a race to 9.

Another big safety game in the next. I kicked in a combination, played a resafe and then Andreas kicked it in as well! He had to follow that shot with a bank, made it and ran out.... Felt devastated right after cause had a ton of 2nd place finishes this season.

Had a fun night there with the folks from the poolroom and Cakti, Rachiem and Serge. That makes for cool memories. Slept there another night and had a nice lunch again in the afternoon. Nice event!
