Marcel rest in peace...
Received a tough phonecall in Qatar last Thursday. A good friend of the family, Marcel Hesselmans, had suddenly passed away at 52 years of age...
As a kid we spend quite some time with Marcel and his wife Lian. We went on a bunch of long weekends and holiday trips with them. From building dams to canoeing and shooting baskets at his own made ring, we had a lot of fun. Marcel was the very first person that ever took me for a game of Snooker! 
I had seen the game on TV at 11 years of age and my mom said that Marcel shot some balls now and then
He took me with him for my very first time, exciting for an 11year old kid!! Just me and him. I fell off the table on one shot I remember and he cracked up laughing 
He is part of my career as a poolplayer.
He was also at the surprise party in the poolroom in the Hague when I won the World 14.1 title.
The funeral was today and there wasn't a dry eye in the crowd of over a hundred people. Marcel, you will surely be missed!!
